An Airport Engagement
When the groom-to-be is a pilot it is only natural to have an airplane in the engagement session! Shannon, Nick and I met at a little coffee shop to chat about their big day. Time flew by and toward the end we brought up the topic of their engagement shoot and Nick absolutely lit up. He was so excited and had so many ideas that absolutely inspired me to look within to totally knocked this shoot out of the park!
Shannon and Nick met in Sophomore year of college and began dating shortly after. It wasn’t exactly love at first sight but it was a love that started with the solid foundation of a good friendship. They became an item in May of 2016 and two years later Nick popped the question.
“Nick proposed on December 28, 2018, in his home town of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He had several different plans of how to propose, but the weather showed rain and he settled for inside Fredrick Meijer Gardens. It felt like being inside a big greenhouse.”
And so the wedding planning began.
“It was actually my mom that found and fell in love with Skypark first. I had been looking for a venue with a lot of natural elements, woodsy feel, and close to water. Since we both went to school in the Pacific Northwest and love hiking and camping. we wanted something outdoors with a woodsy feel. It was difficult finding similar elements of the Northwest this close to Los Angeles without having a destination wedding. Skypark was the perfect combination of everything we were looking for, we are excited to get married in a space that reflects our relationship.”
This brings the story full circle back to the day of the engagement shoot. Shannon showed up looking like a movie star! Nick of course rocked those aviators and leather jacket if I do say so myself. As we were finishing up I noticed the military helicopter which was not part of our original plan but it was there…and well it just had to be in our shoot!. So scroll down and fall in love with Shannon and Nick because…how can you not?
