Escape back in time without going too far.

A countryside escape in coastal Southern California. Tucked away not too far from LA is the picturesque town of Santa Ynez. Here the mornings start with the cool fog rolling in over the mountains which quickly gives way to the afternoon sun and perfect weather year round. The villa is adorned with cypress trees and the courtyards are filled with fragrant lavender and rosemary that it is easy to believe you are in a foreign country without having to fly abroad.

Inspiration: Drawing inspiration from the stone walls and the villa itself came the idea of using white, cream, grey soft and romantic elements. Direction, planning and styling by the very talented Carrie Moe of Type A Society.

Lucy of Lucy Munoz Photography approached me to partake in this shoot in collaboration with Carrie. I had been eager to work with her 1:1 since attending her last workshop. I jumped at the opportunity to join and on the day off we carpooled there from LA. Arriving at Sunstone is like entering a portal into the French Countryside. Upon entering you are greeted with rows of grape vines and olive trees. As we entered we saw the most beautiful staircase to the right and amazingly tall ceilings.

We were greeted by Carrie and met Helen and Alain who were finishing getting ready. Helen was having the finishing touches of her make up completed by the lovely Toni Sanchez. We took this opportunity to shoot the details so perfectly and elegantly curated by Carrie and I am still in love with that invitation suite with hints of Gold by Carta Plena. Helen walked out in the most amazing gown. We took advantage of the stairwell near the entrance to create some movement and took advantage that we could shoot from up top. Alain came out and we were all set to head outside.

One of the most amazing features about this venue is that you do not have to go far to find an great spot to shoot. We walked around the perimeter of the villa and every corner we turned provided an amazing shooting opportunity.

Toward the back of the villa the most beautiful ceremony site was awaiting. This is the perfect spot for an intimate wedding as it feel cozy, elegant and so romantic. We walked through an archway and double doors which led us straight into the most elegant farm style reception table I have ever seen. Alt Flowers creation was so unique and truly inspiring. The combination of wood and ceramic plates paired with colors of taupe and grey added a touch of modern aesthetic to this warm and rustic table. The asymmetrical cake was the perfect way to tie it all together. With Frosted Cakery it is like receiving both a cake and a work of art!

If you have read this far down then you know it is time to show you all the pretty images now. So start your scroll and take it all in because personally I feel instantly transported there as soon as I start with the first image. Swoon.
